Zoo d'Amiens
Amiens zoo extends over 7 hectares and is home to 320 representatives of 79 different species from all the world!
About
‘The conservation of biodiversity is a key function of zoos in the 19th century. This function consists of 3 commitments: raising public awareness, contributing to the progress of scientific knowledge, and participation in conservation programmes for threatened species. A permanent member of the European association of zoos and aquaria (EAZA), Amiens Zoo is highly committed to conservation projects. It participates in the breeding of around thirty threatened species, including the red panda, Sumatran tiger and addax antelope, some of which are reintroduced to reinforce wild populations. Located on the Esplanade de la Hotoie, the 7 hectares of the zoological gardens are home to around 700 representatives of 120 of the most endangered species on the planet. Thus, in a verdant setting just a few steps from the city centre, zebras, emperor penguins, sea lions and many other animals are there for you to discover during a 3-hour visit. Since the end of the 19th century, the Blue Pavilion has offered a welcome break to zoo visitors in the country setting of one of the last waterside guinguettes to be built in Amiens.’
