At the heart of the Middle Somme valley, Picquigny marshes are located between the villages of Ailly-sur-Somme, Saint-Sauveur, La Chaussée-Tirancourt and Picquigny. They form part of a network of alkaline peat marshes in the area and were worked for centuries in the same way (peat digging, grazing, reed cutting, etc.), changing the landscape and its ecological characteristics. This marshland is home to a wide variety of habitats, plant and animal species, often rare and threatened.
