‘A meeting place for the local population and contemporary creation, Le Safran - Scène conventionnée is a place for exchange, sharing and creation driven by a specific house spirit. The programme of the Safran, which is both accessible and demanding, is resolutely open to the rest of the world and defines itself in the mix of genres and cultural pluralism. In addition to the theatre, where around thirty performances are presented every season, the Safran possesses an exhibition room, the Carré Noir, an Arts Centre, and numerous multi-purpose rooms used for arts lessons (drawing, painting, pottery, dance, etc.) or made available to artists in residence. Numerous highlights mark the cultural season at the Safran: Safra’Numériques - a week of immersion and discovery of digital arts and new technologies, the Second Souffle festival – which explores the links between art and sports, and Safran’chir – which apprehends the world we live in today by focusing on the close links between the stage and news events.’
