The “Marais communaux” of Eclusier-Vaux are located in the flood channel of the Somme, in the Frise / Eclusier-Vaux river bend, and are part of the vast complex of alkaline peat bogs in the Upper Somme Valley. This 135 hectare stretch of countryside is covered by a Natura 2000 agreement, in order to restore the environments exposed by deforestation.
This restoration work paves the way to recovering the characteristic habitats of alkaline peat bogs, such as reed beds and marsh fern, as well as their plethora of typical flora and fauna species.

Enjoy some lovely fresh air during a walk around this superb site. On the way back you can stop at the lock keepers' houses at Eclusier-Vaux (closed in winter) and La Neuville-Les-Bray for a hot drink and/or some refreshments.
