About
With its grounds and outbuildings, the château of Argoeuves is an interesting example of suburban, holiday residence architecture, particularly of the fashion for "villas". This lovely residence has a pleasing and regular symmetry which contrasts with the many different façades of its outbuildings. From July the owners invite you to stroll about the grounds. Major works began in January 2017 to return this château to its former glory. Over 305 trees were felled to recreate the open aspect of its grounds in 1830. The far end of the park has been entirely laid to lawn. The view which had disappeared between the château of Saint-Sauveur and the château of Argœuves has been recreated with the planting of new trees (pine and beech). The 19th century outbuildings, the wooded grounds, the dovecote and greenhouse are all historical and architectural treasures. This singular ensemble will be totally restored over time. This winter the owners repainted the outbuilding door and window frames and repaired the damage caused by many winter gales and spring storms. Come back regularly to admire the changes! Open in July, August and September, 12 noon to 6pm. Unguided tour of outdoor areas. Explanatory panels on-site.
