Climb to the top of the slope with its ruins of the church of Saint-Jacques-le Majeur, destroyed in a fire in 1985, to enjoy the panoramic view of Somme Valley landscapes. Facing you in the distance is the white tower of the church of Condé-Folie, near the National Military cemetery where soldiers killed in fighting in 1940 lie buried. To the east you can see the straight lines of workers' houses in Les Moulins-Bleus. At the foot of the slope the landscape is dotted with green meadows beside the river Somme and little lakes, sometimes hidden by dense leafy woodland. Be sure to walk around the old Étoile cemetery which has many examples of the rather romantic gravestones that were common in the 19th century.
