About
Having already enjoyed a successful run at the Comédie de Picardie with Molière's Les fâcheux and Victor Hugo's Les travailleurs de la mer, the Livsnerven company adapts Virginie Despentes' famous trilogy. A hard-hitting rock score.
"Who is Vernon Subutex? The last witness to a bygone world. The last face of our inhuman comedy. The ghost of us all His story, as told by Virginie Despentes, is an x-ray of our society, where the joyful, assertive insouciance of the 1980s has given way to general collapse, waste, precariousness and poverty.
Elya Birman and Clémentine Niewdanski are sensitive to texts that address themes of contemporary solitude and incommunicability, and use the author?s words to "convey the virulence of her critique of our society and the power of her freedom to think about the world".
After more than 25 years as an independent record store owner, changes in the music industry forced Vernon to close up store, precipitating his exclusion from the industry and the horror of the street. Between the embodiment of a gallery of memorable characters and narration, the score moves from "profusion to emptiness, from fullness to emptiness", letting the full amplitude of the emptiness that invades alienated and afflicted beings burst forth in a furiously rocking energy.
At the heart of breathless suspense, Vernon?s sad epic impresses?
