Découverte gourmande et Saveurs locales aux Journées européennes du Patrimoine
About
To mark the European Heritage Days, the Amiens Métropole Convention and Visitors Bureau is celebrating the region's culinary heritage and the Amiens artisans and chefs who bring it to life with a series of events.
? A gourmet trail to combine discovery and pleasure:
Armed with a booklet specially published for the occasion, visitors will be invited to wander the streets to discover Amiens' must-see monuments, and punctuate their visit with savory and sweet gourmet stops at partner artisans. These include the famous macaron d'Amiens at Trogneux, a selection of 100% Picardy cheeses at Planchon, gins and whiskies from the House of Hautefeuille in the Halles du Beffroi, and sparkling rhubarb at La Graineterie. Visitors can also enjoy a special Heritage Day creation at Tropez'in, delicious homemade doughnuts at La Donuterie and succulent cookies made on site at Cookies et Biscuits du Monde. And let's not forget the hortillonnages honey confectionery in the Chocolats de Nicolas boutique.
To complete the tour, a "Le bio près de chez vous" foodtruck set up in Square René Goblet, at the foot of the statue of Maréchal Leclerc, will be offering events to encourage people to eat organically.
? Duck pâté, a gourmet heritage to be rediscovered :
In partnership with the Tourist Office, the Union des Métiers et des Industries de l'Hôtellerie de la Somme has decided to rediscover a typical dish of our gastronomy: Amiens duck pâté. Created in 1643, the city's oldest gastronomic specialty is a pâté en croûte that won over many palates, including that of the Marquise de Sévigné! This pâté, which can still be found on the waterfront market, will be on the menu of Port St Leu, Brasserie de l'Horloge, Maison Fréville and the restaurants L'ail des ours, Hyacinthe and Les Orfèvres.
Booklet available free of charge from the Tourist Office during the European Heritage Days, Saturday September 21 and Sunday September 22 only.
