History and Prehistory: A journey back in time

Acheulean, which is a mythical word here, is the main and oldest paleontological facies of Europe, and it was on the terrace of Saint-Acheul that a number of bifacial tools were found that can today be seen in the Musée de Picardie.

Morning

Historical walk through the city. Along the way, get to know the history of Amiens from Samarobriva to the present day, studying the architectural facades and major monuments that bear witness to bygone days. One guide-lecturer per 30 children maximum.
Duration: 1½ hours

Midday

Picnic in Samara (covered area, with restaurant service if desired).

Afternoon

Exploring Samara, the great prehistoric nature park in the Somme Valley. Guided tour of the “Prehistoric Panoramas” exhibition – a chronological series of thirteen paintings depicting 600,000 years of mankind’s history, followed by a craftwork demonstration and a visit to recreations of prehistoric habitats.
Duration: 3 hours on site and 2 hours of guided tours.
