Jules Verne in Amiens, but wasn’t’he from Nantes?

Of course he was, but he spent the second part of his life here, in Amiens after he married a woman from here in 1857! As your drop by, don’t forget to immerse yourself into the writer’s visionary world. You will discover the harmonious city whose charm inspired him for a number of his “Extraordinary Voyages”… The climax may well be the “House with the Tower”, fully restored in 2005, where he lived for 18 years.

Your accommodation:

You’ll be welcomed, at the very heart of the city, in a pleasant and comfortable 2* hotel - the Express by Holiday Inn** Hotel - an ideal starting point for a walk. Perfectly fitted out rooms all have private bathrooms, satellite TV, hairdryiers and wifi connection. Once you get into your room, you’ll be able to sip a nice cup of tea (or coffee). The Continental breakfast will be a buffet in the dining room. You will appreciate this attractive modern hotel way in the city.

Your programme:

From your hotel by the railway station, you can walk to the Vernes’ place, 2, rue Charles-Dubois –a path the writer walked along so often when he went visited his publisher in Paris. Now you can discover the 19th century city at your own pace: the boulevards, the circus, the public library…

Need for a pause? Drop by the Marrot’ Street café for a glass of champagne in an Arts and Crafts atmosphere.
If you feel like knowing a lot more about the city, just follow a guide lecturer through Amiens’ old quarters:
Strolling from the Cathedral to the City Hall, and alongside the River Somme. When you leave, you’ll know (almost) everyting about Amiens.

Catering:

Duck pie, “ficelle picarde” (stuffed crêpe), leek pie: you can’t stay here without tasting the many specialities the local restaurateurs will propose you.
