Vallée de la Selle - Conty

The Vallée de la Selle is at the confluence of two rivers: the Selle and the Evoissons. It is lined with numerous pretty rural villages with castles, churches and watermills, and many natural riches that you can discover on the many trails that cross the area. Enjoy, too, the pace of life in the shade of the trees, the villages with their traditional timber-framed houses, and its chain of water pools, remnants of the former gravel pits.

La Coulée Verte

A former railway line connecting Amiens to Beauvais, this 17 km footpath is ideal for discovering the Valley’s natural environments and local heritage, alongside the Selle river and numerous water pools. This Nature Trail can also be used for educational outings thanks to signs. It can be accessed by foot, mountain bike and horse-back. Only motorised vehicles are not allowed.

Loeuilly water sports centre

The water sports centre on a 4-hectare lake is in a leafy setting on the edge of the Coulée Verte nature path. Experience the site in canoe or kayak and have fun on the slalom trail, the tunnel, the mud banks, or why not enjoy a game of kayak polo? You can also travel down a neighbouring river (the Avre, the Somme, the Hortillonnages), take part in an orienteering rally or a mountain bike trek.

Discover the Valley's architectural heritage

Noble residences

Visit the Louis XIII-style Wailly château made of brick and stone, built in around 1640 on the edge of a manmade terrace at the foot of the chalky cliff. It blends perfectly into the greenery, giving it a romantic aura. Or, at the end of a long alley, visit the Prouzel château, built in 1699 exclusively of stone in the middle of a 12-hectare park on a plateau dominating the Selle Valley. There’s also the Courcelles-sous-Thoix château, where the owners provide accommodation and catering.

Religious buildings

The Saint-Antoine church in Conty dates from the 15th and 16th centuries. As you raise your eyes to the sky, you will see the upper corners of the 33-metre high tower, where 4 gargoyles represent winged monsters with spiralled tails. One of the special features of this church is a fountain that springs from under the altar of Saint-Antoine.
The Saint-Lambert de Sentelie chapel was a pilgrimage centre. Sick people would come here and trophies of crutches used to be hung near the altar. You can still see some crutches near the choir gate.

Religious building

The Notre Dame des Vertus de Nampty Chapel has seen a number of pilgrims stop here. Between the road and the forest, it is never closed. In the entrance, candles continually burn and flowers are regularly placed here, and the walls are decorated with votive offerings.
Every year, during the last weekend in August, the Festival des Contynoises attracts hundreds of people to street shows, concerts, art exhibitions, etc.
Each year, Conty allows free use of a camping car zone near the Tourist Office, the equestrian centre and the town centre.
