NEW IN 2010 : The Musée de Picardie stays open until 9 pm on Thursdays – an ideal opportunity to discover Amiens’ rich medieval past.
Discover master glass artist Claude Barre’s private collection, just a stone’s throw from the cathedral. Religious stained-glass windows from the 11th to the 19th century and “interior” stained-glass creations, on display in cellars dating from the 13th century. There will be new additions to the collection in 2010.
The very symbol of Amiens’ communal liberties, the Belfry is famous above all for once having been a prison. It has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2005, as have all the belfries in Nord-Pas-de Calais, Picardy and Belgium.
