“Les Rendez-vous de la Bande-Dessinée” – the Amiens Comics Festival

The 18th Rendez-Vous de la Bande Dessinée will be taking place in Amiens on 1st and 2nd June 2013. On the programme: activities, exhibitions, encounters and book-signings... If you’re a comic-book buff, don’t miss out!

 

Since its creation in 1995, the On a marché sur la bulle association has been ensuring that the Amiens Comics Festival is an event on no account to be missed.

 

For the 18th edition of the festival, 87 authors – including Agnès Maupre, David vandermeule, Alex-imé, P'tiluc, Alexandre Clerisse, Jérémie Moreau, Cécile, Daniel Goossens, Nicolas Hitori De, Denis Lachaussée, Kokor, Aude Soleilhac, Kris, Nicolas Poupon – will be on the scene to meet visitors, sign copies of their works and discuss the art of the comic book.

 

MAJOR EXHIBITIONS

- 15th Best First Album Prize for Picard sixth-form students

This exhibition showcases the 11 selected albums on which more than 1 000 young people in the Picardy region have worked across 418 schools in three département.
This year, the three students who will have received the most of votes, will be invited to the festival.

- Comic regional competition

"The Arabian night" is the topic of the competition this year. Each participant has to draw one or two boards.
Four ranges of peopleare are participating : from primary school to adults.

This year, the poster of the competition has been made by Thomas Grembert, winner of the 2012 prize.
The competition is open to everyone who lives in Picardy and who has never been published.

- Daniel Goossens exists, I met him

Some authors worked on a very simple question, with simplicity, fun, humor... Why is Daniel Goossens a genius ? Does he really exist ?

- The Yaya's walk, Shangaï under the bombs

 

The french author, Jean-Marie Omont, and the Chinese cartoonist, Golo Zhao, are proposing a succesfull mix of history and individual fate. The exhibition will trace the different steps of their work : drawings, boards, research...

- American comics and its double

 

Here, you have to look at the comics in a mirror: on one side, a series of historic board. On the other side, their reinterpretation by Robert Sikoryak who plays to subvert the codes of those boards.
By remaking classics of the litterature with a minor art, he develops a two-fold irony.

In the exhibition,the opposits meet to develop a funny and learned look: picture and text, the original and the its remake, the old and the new.

- Comics for Matthieu Bonhomme

 

All the universes of Matthieu Bonhomme, author of the poster 2013, are gravitating around the young Indian Esteban and the South Seas.

From April the 11th to June, the 7th, an exhibition will present the main works of Matthieu Bonhomme.

- Anabaptists passion

 

At the begining of the 16th century,in Germany, a Protestant sect is puting dogmas into question... Following the scenario of David Vandermeulen, the boards and illustations of Ambre are pontuating the exhibition, reaviling the strengh and the reliefs of a visonary graphic designer.

- The lilltle family

 

 

For the republishing of the three books, the exhibition invites visitor to play, to paticipate, to exchange, to draw around the characters of the Little family.

- The Sparrowhawk, let's go for adventure !

Numerus board, researches and watercolors of Patrice Pellerin will show you all the reseach and staging work of a pricese and exigent cartoonist.

Grand Hall of the Louis Aragon mediatheque, from May, the 15th to August the 15th.
And University Library, Cathedral Building, reading room on the first floor on June the 1st and the 2nd.

 

 

 

EVENTS ON THE FESTIVAL

- Thursday 30 May and Friday 31 June for schoolchildren

The programme for these two days includes one hour with an author (Anlor, Jean-Marie Omont, Frédéric Maupomé, Stéphane Sénégas, Marc Lizano and a few others), a guided tour of the exhibitions and an unaccompanied visit of the other exhibitions in the city. Over both days the Amiens Regional Centre for Educational Documentation (CRDP) will have a stand where visitors can see its comic strip productions.

- Reading out loud and story mat in the exhibitions

For a true reading experience for all visitors, reading-out-loud sessions will be held during the exhibitions, and the Hugo et Cagoule comic strip by Dauvillier and Lizano (published by de la Gouttière) will be brought to life through a story mat specially made for the occasion. Experience at the show.

- Prize-giving for the comic strip competition

Launch of the great comic strip competition open to Picard residents of all ages, on the theme: "The Arabian night...". This competition has given countless young authors the chance to train. Several competition winners have subsequently turned professional (including David François, Sébastien Vastra, Damien Cuvillier, Renaud Collard... to mention just a few).

  • Venues and dates:

Exhibition of the six finalists' work in each of the four categories on the first floor of the University Library.
The various prizes will be awarded on Sunday 1 June at 4 p.m., by the Association Chairman and Jury.
