Notre-Dame of Amiens covered in Chroma

15 years after the show “Amiens, the Cathedral in colour”, Notre-Dame of Amiens is offering a new spectacle, and reveals its secrets to us, every evening, from 24 November to 31 December 2017.

This winter, discover, or re-discover Amiens’ Notre-Dame Cathedral from a new angle. From 24 November to 31 December 2017, every evening, this emblematic monument of the Metropolis will unveil its feature “Chroma”, shown for the first time during summer 2017. It has been an undeniable success, with 275000 having already enjoyed this monumental experience.

We invite you to admire this new and never-before-seen dramatization, offered again by Amiens and led by the Spectre Lab Society, which has the scientific expertise of Michel Pastoureau, a historian of the symbolism of colours in the reproduction of polychromes. The Start-Rec agency, founded by Alex Jeffray, composer and sound designer, has also worked on this large-scale project, by orchestrating the soundtrack, which will enhance the visual aspect.

Focused on the reproduction of polychromes in previous years, the show will help you dive into reimaginations of fascinating and emblematic pictures of gothic architecture.

This winter rediscover the monumental structure of the Cathedral, adorned with its most mysterious, enigmatic and impressive façade, and let yourself be drawn into an incredible experience full of emotions.

TIMES
• Every evening at 7:00pm

A tour guide will accompany you for free, each evening (except the 24, 25 and 31 December) during the second part of the show to answer all your questions about the polychrome portals.

An app for going further…
The Metropolis of Amiens wanted to partner with the Amiens start-up Octus and University of Picardy Jules Verne in order to answer the requests of spectators wanting to prolong the discovery of the show, by proposing an application that will be tested from November 24.

Discover the behind-the-scenes making of the show, decipher the polychrome portals of the western façade, or even touch the screenplay of the show – there are many possibilities to extend your experience! The public is invited to participate in improving this tool, whose final version will be offered next summer. So don’t wait, share your opinion about this new app!
