Amiens puppet theatre

From 15th July to 14th August 2020, the Amiens puppet theatre has devised a summer for all—big and small alike! With traditional farces, shows for children, and workshops and tours, Chés Cabotans has something for everyone!

 

 

 

 

 

At the Chés Cabotans Theatre you’ll find all kinds of ways to amuse yourself and your family, with, first of all, the return of two traditional farces:

 

  • “Peter and the Wolf”, on 15th July (10:30am), 16th July (10:30am and 3pm), 17th July (10:30am), and 18th July (3pm) 2020.

This musical tale by Sergei Prokofiev, staged with the Chés Cabotans puppets, remains an enduring introduction to music for young people. Adults will also relish the poetic atmosphere of the performance.

  • “The Apoplectic Attack” ("L'attaque d'Apoplexie"), on Saturdays 18th July, 1st August, and 8th August at 6pm.

A traditional farce that will have you in unstoppable fits of laughter, an award-winning show being performed here in its original form in a puppet booth! How do you avoid paying your debts when you are absolutely riddled with them? Our hero, Lafleur, has come across a solution: faking his death! But an unexpected event is going to foil his plan...

From 15th July to 14th August 2020, Lafleur will also hold fun workshops for young audiences (In french only). There are two modules available for different age groups:

  • One for children between 6 and 12, on Wednesdays at 2pm. Full price: €15. Reduced price: €10. Book online.
  • One for children over 12, on Fridays at 2pm. Full price: €25. Reduced price: €15. Book online.

(Adult supervision recommended.)

 

The exhibition :

From the golden age of puppetry at the beginning of the 19th century to the beginnings of the Chés Cabotans theatre in 1997 in the iconic Saint Leu neighbourhood—delve into the history of the troupe created by Maurice Domon in 1933, and of our local hero Lafleur. This tour is supplemented by a presentation of part of the puppet backdrop and puppetry accessories.
Free tours on performance days: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 2pm to 5pm.
Please note there is a limited capacity (10 people maximum). Masks are mandatory from 11 years and up.
