Battle of Amiens: Centennial Commemoration

On August 8th, 2018, the representatives of the governments of Canada, Australia, Great Britain, the United States, Germany and France will gather in front of the Cathedral, together with the public to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Amiens.

August 8th, 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Amiens, a decisive battle in the victory of the First World War for the allied troops facing Germany.

This battle was the first in a long list that would later be known as the "Hundred Days Offensive". It took the Canadians, Australians, Britons, Americans and French towards victory over Germany in one of the bloodiest wars in history.

One hundred years later, an international ceremony will unite these countries in Amiens, in the magnificent Notre Dame Cathedral, as well as on the square in front of it, at 3:00 p.m.

There will be an extremely high level of security for this occasion. Only those holding their personal invitation, which will have been requested via the Préfecture de la Somme website, will be able to attend.

Registration to attend this ceremony is closed (website here if needed)
