Amiens sparkles with the glorious colours of the Christmas Market

From Friday, 23 November to Monday, 31 December, Amiens put on its coat of many coloured lights and features over 140 chalet stalls as part of its traditional Christmas Market. Crafts, entertainment and illuminations, spread along a two kilometre walk, promise that visitors will end the year on a magical note !

 

 

The Christmas Market offers a wealth of treasures all ready to be discovered at the foot of the tree: crafts (jewellery, leather, candles and so on), traditional toys, cashmere scarves, mini-cottages, terracotta figurines, gourmet products, etc. In an atmosphere rich with the sweet scents and flavours of the end-of-year celebrations, the enchantment of this magical event will delight young and old alike!

 

Christmas Market Hours:

> Monday from 2pm to 7:30pm
> Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 10:30am to 7:30pm
> Saturday from 10:30am to 9pm
> Sunday from 10:30am to 7:30pm
> Closed on 25 December
> Closing at 5pm on 24 and 31 December
> Extra opening Monday, 31 December from 10:30am to 5pm

 

The events that will take place during the Christmas Market :

 

> CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH-ON

3, 2, 1… sparkle! All children are invited into the heart of the Christmas Market to to count down to the switch-on of the Christmas lights in the whole city.

> CHRISTMAS CAROLS

To start off this 21st Christmas Market, the 80 singers of the University Choir of Picardy will offer a Christmas carol concert.

Gloves are compulsory

> THE VILLAGE IN THE MOUNTAINS

NEW : The mountains are coming to Amiens! Surrounded by pine trees and festive decorations, the toboggan run awaits parents and children for exhilarating rides.

NEW : A nursery space welcomes children from 4 to 8 years old for creative workshops and activities. Price: 1€/hour, up to 15 children.
In partnership with the Fédérations des commerçants du centre-ville (High Street Traders’ Association).

> SANTA’S CHALET

Father Christmas welcomes children into his chalet until December 24. His mail box will be right in front of the chalet, ready for all good boys and girls to send their letters to the North Pole!
NEW : In addition to his house, Father Christmas invites you to explore his garden with enchanted decorations provided by the City’s Parks & Gardens services (Service Espaces Verts).

> FATHER CHRISTMAS PROMENADES

NEW : Every Wednesday and at weekends, the streets of the town centre come alive to the rhythm of Father Christmas’ promenades.

> THE GIANT CHRISTMAS TREE

A real, 15m-tall Christmas tree will be displayed on Place René Goblet.

 

> THE FESTIVE FERRIS WHEEL

The real gateway to the Amiens Christmas Market is the festive ferris wheel, on rue de Noyon, at the foot of the Tour Perret. Get the best view of the city’s Christmas lights from the top of the 50m ferris wheel !

 

> CHROMA LIGHT SHOW

At nightfall, the cathedral is once again transformed with a new spectacular light show that evokes the history of Notre-Dame d’Amiens and of the city with stunning colours.

> THE NATIVITY BY CH’LAFLEUR - Traditional Picardy puppet show
Enjoy the Nativity scene, told in four 20-minute living pictures with songs and live music, and twenty traditional Picardy puppets.
